The Ainsworth Building forms part of the existing Sydney Children’s Hospital and adjoining link to the Prince of Wales Hospital and consists of 5300sqm of floor space for children’s health services.

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) unit, now known as the Ainsworth Building, contains leading edge clinical facilities not seen before in New South Wales consisting of:

  • A 28-bed short stay surgical unit;
  • An eight-bed purpose-built child and adolescent mental health unit;
  • A comprehensive rehabilitation centre;
  • A world-class respiratory laboratory, which includes the only infant lung function laboratory in Sydney;
  • Ronald McDonald House Charities Family Centre for parents and carers;
  • A child protection unit;
  • New clinical office space for health care professionals from a range of disciplines.

The five-storey wing is located next to the existing building and incorporates the new CAMHS building, including an inpatient unit, paediatric rehabilitation facility, short stay peri-operative facility, treatment and consultation areas and a family facility for parents and carers.

MODUtherm, MINItherm & SM Series Air Handling Units were installed for this project to ensure a healthy indoor environment for the occupants of the building.
